EARLY IN MARCH I BLOGGED ABOUT TWO BROTHERS IN MINNESOTA WHO SUFFERED FROM A RARE SKIN DISEASE CALLED EPIDERMOLYSIS BULLOSA.  THIS AWFUL DISEASE CAUSES THE PATIENT'S SKIN TO BLISTER AND FALL OFF.  EVENTUALLY WHEN THE PATIENT GETS OLDER IT TURNS INTO A SKIN CANCER.  FROM WHAT I CAN GATHER, A COUPLE IN WALES HEARD ABOUT THE FAMILY IN MINNESOTA AND NOW IS TRYING TO RAISE MONEY FOR THEIR OWN SON WHO SUFFERS FROM THE SAME DISORDER TO GET A STEM CELL TRANSPLANT.  THIS WELSH COUPLE IS WATCHING ANXIOUSLY TO SEE IF THE STEM CELL THERAPY HELPS THE MINNESOTA BROTHERS AND HOPE IT CAN BE APPLIED TO THEIR OWN SON AS WELL.  I WISH BOTH THE FAMILY IN MINNESOTA AND THE WELSH FAMILY ALL THE BEST.  WE ARE CHEERING FOR YOU HERE.

Dad Peter Davey, 33, of Swn yr Arfon, Llangefni, said: “We are hoping and we are praying.

“We are desperate for news about how successful this has proved because if it has gone well then this could help Tie as well.

“It is hard waiting for news like this but there is nothing else we can do but wait and hope.

ALTHOUGH STEM CELL TREATMENT FOR LEUKEMIA ISN'T A SCOOP-  DOCTORS HAVE BEEN USING STEM CELL THERAPY TO HELP LEUKEMIA PATIENTS FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 YEARS,  I STILL LOVE STORIES LIKE THIS ONE.

REBECCA GRISHAM RECEIVED A STEM CELL TRANSPLANT FROM HER SISTER AND ACCORDING TO THE STORY SEEMS TO BE DOING BETTER EACH DAY.  ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER FAMILY SAVED WITH STEM CELLS.  I AM A HAPPY MAN.

READ ON-

The future looks brighter for Rebecca Grisham of Jackson, her son and daughter after treatment in early February at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for acute myelogenous leukemia.

After stem-cell therapy through a match with her sister, Grisham has made progress and is residing at a Village at Vanderbilt apartment, courtesy of the Stem Cell Foundation.

"She would say the Lord is blessing her daily," Vaughn said. "She's feeling good and able to get out some but has to be cautious" because of her weakened immune system.

I HATE TO BE REPETITIVE, BUT HERE IS YET ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL STEM CELL THERAPY STORY COMING OUT OF CHINA.  AN AMERICAN FAMILY FROM MISSOURI WENT TO CHINA TO RECEIVE ADULT STEM CELLS FOR THEIR DAUGHTER WHO SUFFERS FROM SEPTO-OPTIC DYSPLASIA WHICH MEANS HER EYES DON'T HAVE ENOUGH NERVE FIBERS THAT THE BRAIN NEEDS TO RECEIVE VISUAL CUES FROM THE EYES.  WOULD THE STEM CELLS HELP WITH THIS CONDITION?  LET'S FIND OUT! READ ON!

KEY PARAGRAPHS FROM THE ARTICLE AFTER RETURNING FROM CHINA FOR  HER STEM CELL TREATMENT-

But Juli said she is already noticing changes in Lydia's vision. "After her second treatment, we started to notice a change," Juli said.

Before the treatments Lydia was able to sense a flashlight 6 to 12 inches in front of her eyes. After treatments she noticed it 6 feet away, Juli said, and she's become less sensitive to light. After a Monday visit to her ophthalmologist, Barlett said Rylea's prescription has increased to somewhere between 20/800 and 20/600, an improvement from being completely blind. "If that's what hers is," Barlett said of the 20/600 prescription, "the way we see something at 600 feet is how she sees it at 20 feet."
